Das Album erschien bereits 2015 in Frankreich und ein Jahr später auf deutsch im Splitter Verlag. Das Album ESMERA war – afaik – ein großer Erfolg und bis heute ein One-Shot-Projekt von Vince and Zep.
Der Künstler-Millionär Zep – berühmt geworden in Frankreich mit seinen Tifeuf-Cartoon-Alben – hat die Geschichte geschrieben und sein Kollege Vince mit dem er bereits zusammengearbeitet hat, hat die Gestaltung übernommen.
Doch was macht eine gute erotische Graphic Novel aus? Kann das jeder versierte Künstler? In meinem Kommentar sage ich klar: Nein.
Keine Frage! Der Band ist schön gestaltet und die Geschichte “unterhaltsam”. Doch für ein Album mit dem Schwerpunkt Erotik ist das in meinen Augen nicht gut genug. Was mir persönlich bei Esmera fehlt ist das Prickeln – die Erotik. Ja man sieht “erotische Bilder” wenn die Protagonisten es miteinander treiben. Doch das ist im vorliegenden Fall so dermaßen öde präsentiert, dass ich zum Urteil komme: “Erotik, das kann nicht jeder!”

The artist-millionaire Zep – made famous in France with his Tifeuf cartoon albums – wrote the story and his colleague Vince with whom he had already collaborated, did the design.
But what makes a good erotic graphic novel? Can any accomplished artist do it? In my commentary, I clearly say no.
No question! The volume is beautifully designed and the story “entertaining”. But for an album with a focus on erotica, it’s not good enough in my eyes. What I personally miss in Esmera is the thrill – the eroticism. Yes, you see “erotic pictures” when the protagonists are doing it with each other. But this is presented in such a dull way that I come to the conclusion: “Erotic, not everyone can do that!”.
